Terms of Service
Effective date: July 1, 2026
1. Acceptance
By downloading or using Koalie, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
2. Who Can Use Koalie
Koalie is for parents and guardians of school-age children. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. You are responsible for ensuring the information you enter about your children is accurate.
3. Your Account
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at hello@koalie.app if you suspect unauthorized access.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree to use Koalie only for lawful purposes and in ways that do not infringe the rights of others. You may not use Koalie to send harassing, abusive, or unlawful messages to school staff or other users. ParentBox messages are auditable school records — conduct yourself accordingly.
5. School Relationships
Koalie connects you to your child's school through Basin (our school administration platform). The school remains responsible for the accuracy of information they send you. Koalie is not liable for errors or omissions in school-provided content.
6. AI Features
Koalie uses AI to provide book recommendations, reading plans, and conversational assistance. AI responses are informational and may not always be accurate. Always use your own judgment, especially for decisions about your child's education or health.
7. Intellectual Property
Koalie and its content are owned by Brian McDaniel. You retain ownership of all content you add (child profiles, reading logs, etc.). You grant us a limited license to store and display your content to provide the service.
8. Paid Features
Koalie offers free and paid subscription tiers. Paid subscriptions are billed through the App Store or Google Play. Refunds are governed by their respective store policies. We may change pricing with 30 days' notice.
9. Termination
You may stop using Koalie and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. Upon termination, your data will be deleted per our Privacy Policy.
10. Disclaimers
Koalie is provided "as is." We make no guarantees about uptime, accuracy, or completeness. We are not responsible for decisions made based on information in the app.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Koalie's liability for any claim related to these terms is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months preceding the claim.
12. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
